About Us
WELCOME TO LAYCOCK PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our Mission Statement
Our caring school family nurtures pupils and helps them to achieve their full potential. By tailoring our curriculum to suit pupil’s individual needs and interests, we ensure that they thrive in a stimulating learning environment. We develop a culture of respect, self-reflection and resilience through restorative practice. We are building an aspirational community through fun, child-centred experiences.
Our Values:
Aspiration
We encourage every child to aim high, believe in their potential, and embrace challenges with resilience and determination.
Community
We foster a strong, inclusive sense of belonging where everyone contributes positively, respects diversity, and works together to support each other’s success.
Nurture
We create a caring and supportive environment where every child feels valued, safe, and empowered to grow emotionally, socially, and academically.
Welcome to our lovely, small school. We are situated in the Yorkshire countryside high up above Keighley in the village of Laycock. We are very spoilt in our setting with views of the rolling hills and lots of outdoor space including our woods and our playing field. We are a stone’s throw of Haworth, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and the first public Carnegie Library in England!
In fact some of these places are the names of our Houses! Our children all join one of our four houses when they start at Laycock Primary School. They then remain in these houses throughout their time at school. We do events, workshops, trips, stay and plays and learning in our houses at least once a half term.
Our Houses
The Houses are named after significant local landmarks
Bronte Parsonage (Bronte)
East Riddlesden Hall (East)
Cliffe Castle (Cliffe)
Worth Valley Railway (Worth)
Our school is half form entry which means we can take up to 15 pupils per year group. Due to this our children are taught in mixed age classes.
The original school building dates back to 1891 and has been updated recently, providing our pupils with a learning environment which is both modern yet has great charm and character.
Our 3 School Rules:
Be ready - quality audience, equipment ready, ready to learn.
Be respectful - to yourself, staff, peers, environment, belongings, parents, your learning, your future
Be responsible - following instructions, proud walking, honesty, supporting others
