Computing
At Laycock Primary School, we want children to be masters of technology. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in children' lives. We aim to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want our children to be creators not consumers and our broad curriculum encompassing computer science, information technology and digital literacy teaches this.
Our vision is for every child at Laycock to be fluent with a range of tools to best express their understanding and hope by Upper Key Stage 2, children have the independence and confidence to choose the best tool to fulfil the task and challenge set by teachers.
At Laycock Primary School we follow the Kapow Computing curriculum which fulfils the statutory requirements outlined in the National curriculum (2014). This curriculum develops the three areas of computing; Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy.
It is our aim that all of our children are confident users of technology, have a secure and comprehensive knowledge of the implications of technology and digital systems and know the importance of technology in the ever-changing world around them.
