School Uniform
Uniform
All children should wear full school uniform while at school, exceptions to this may be on Forest School days or non-uniform days which parents will be informed about via Class Dojo.
Our uniform is stocked at Top Trends 97 Cavendish St, Keighley BD21 3DG and Whitakers 5 Low St, Airedale Centre, Keighley BD21 3PJ. You can also buy all of our non branded uniform at supermarkets and we can support families by providing second hand uniform.
PLEASE NOTE: All branded uniform items are optional.
The uniform consists of:
A dark grey or black skirt/pinafore, shorts or trousers (tailored uniform wear – no leggings/jogging bottoms)
A white polo shirt – this can be with or without the school logo
A navy blue sweatshirt/cardigan - this can be with or without the school logo
A blue checked summer dress (summer)
Sensible sturdy black shoes/ boots / trainers. Shoes should be completely black, avoiding different coloured soles.
A suitable coat for the weather - children must bring a coat or light jacket every day.
Wellies - as an OPAL school, we are outside at lunch and break in all weathers. Children need wellies in school that will be stored in Welly Kingdom.
Waterproof clothing - an all in one waterproof ‘puddle suit’ or waterproof trousers
Children should also have hats and sun cream for hotter days.
On PE day, children wear PE kit to school. This consists of:
A plain white t-shirt
Black joggers/shorts/leggings/PE skirt
Black trainers
A plain black or navy zip up hoodie
Cloakroom space is very limited so children should only bring a book bag for their water bottle (plain water with sports cap lid please) and reading book/ reading record. Children do not need to bring in pencil cases as we will provide everything needed during the school day.
All items of clothing including shoes must have the child’s name written clearly, this needs to be checked frequently as names often wash off over time.
Any uniform that is lost within school will be returned to the child’s class if it is named. Unnamed uniforms will be put in the hamper in the main office.
Make Up and Jewellery
Children should not wear any make-up to school.
If you are contemplating piercing your child’s ears, we would advise that this is done at the start of the summer break so they have plenty of time to heal.
If your child wears earrings they should only wear studs. Hoop type earrings must not be worn as there is a high likelihood that they can get caught and cause damage to a child’s earlobes. Earrings must be removed by the children themselves for all PE sessions and for swimming. Please teach your child how to do this as staff are not able to remove children’s earrings or apply micro-porous tape.
No other jewellery should be worn, this includes necklaces and additional piercings such as multiple ear lobe studs or other body piercing.
If your child is entitled to benefits based free school meals, a uniform voucher will be issued during the summer term. The voucher can be redeemed with both suppliers.
